Starting your own business can be both exhilarating (and terrifying)! If you have been debating whether or not to take the leap, here’s another reason why you might want to pursue an entrepreneurial path.
VETransfer is the nation’s first business accelerator for vets and is now in its pilot phase. This program, started by the Department of Veterans Affairs under the VAi2 Innovation Initiative, supports vets in their pursuit of entrepreneurial ventures by providing mentoring, training and education in lean startup methodologies. The program also connects vet with a support network and collaborative environment conducive to launching and scaling a business.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, vets are 45% more likely to be self-employed than their civilian counterparts. Qualities such as discipline, strategic thinking, teambuilding, and adaptability make entrepreneurship a natural fit.
